1. The 48-Hour Service Elevator Rule

In luxury towers (like those by Emaar or Damac), you cannot use the passenger lift for boxes. You must book the Service Elevator at least 48 hours in advance. If you miss your slot, you might have to reschedule your entire move.

2. Move-In/Move-Out Permits (NOCs)

You cannot move a single chair without an NOC.

• Move-Out: Ensure your final DEWA bill is paid and you have a clearance certificate from your current landlord.
• Move-In: Upload your Ejari and Emirates ID to the building’s portal (e.g., the “Emaar One” app) to get your entry permit.

3. The Friday & Sunday Restriction

Many premium buildings in Dubai do not allow moving on Fridays or Sundays to maintain peace for other residents. Always check with your building management before booking a weekend move.

4. Security Deposits for Damages

Some buildings require a “refundable security deposit” (usually between 1,000 to 2,000 AED) before the movers start. This covers any potential scratches to the elevators or hallways.

5. Truck Height Restrictions

Basement parking in Downtown often has a height limit of 2.2 meters. Standard moving trucks won’t fit. You need a mover who understands which loading bays can accommodate a 3-ton truck.
